The Fladgate partnership, owners of the illustrious Ports of Taylor's, Croft's and Fonseca have declared on St Georges Day that they are to release classic vintage Ports from all three houses from the 2009 vintage, making this the fourth declaration in a decade ( 2000, 2003, 2007, 2009 ).
The last decade has been unusually prolific in great years for classic vintage port. 2009 will be remembered in the Douro Valley for its dry summer, low production and very concentrated juice. This created wines with enormous density of colour and excellent tannin grip, however they also display good acidity and wonderfully complex fruit.
