Producer Tasting Note:

An expressive and perfumed nose, with meaty and earthy elements lending power and presence. The rich fruit of the palate is cooled by elegant minerality, balanced by savoury, toasted oak and lifted by fine tannins and a lick of acidity

Many previous vintages have achieved 90+/100 points from numerous critics including Wine Enthusiast, Gilbert & Gaillard, jasper Morris and Decanter World Wine Awards.

The Vintage: 2021 will go down in history for frost. The frost which hit the French winelands was the worst ever experienced. The domain was seriously struck with a yield equivalent to a third of a normal grape harvest.

The Vineyard: The "Grèves" climat is the largest in Beaune, covering 31 hectares. Due to its size, the soils within Les Grèves are not uniform. The name "Grèves" refers to "gravel." This gravel has often broken down into silt, and iron oxide is also found in the upper part of the vineyard.

The Property: Berthelemot is a young domaine, created as recently as 2006, as a result of the merging of the mature holdings of the Jean Garaudet and Yves Darviot estates. A family business, based in Meursault, and cultivating 15 hectares in the Côte de Beaune area (Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Pommard, Beaune. etc). The wines have been certified "organic" from vintage 2021.

Food Match: Refined dishes like roasted poultry (guinea fowl), duck, veal, mushroom-based dishes, or mushroom risotto. Its savoury, earthy notes make it ideal for game birds, roasted pork, or soft cheeses.
