Producer Tasting Note:

Intense golden mahogany brown color, with almost greenish reflections. It presents a characteristic bouquet, good and complex nose, revealing a bouquet of wood, dried fruits, confectionery, caramelized, floral tea, spices and honey. The attack is sweet and soft, smooth full-bodied, with notes of aged brandy and slightly smoked woods. Long finish, with some freshness and heat, with notes of spice, smoked walnut and molasses.

This venerable cask matured Malmsey possesses the superb full luscious honeyed style of this classic Madeira variety. Its robust character has been tempered by the prolonged ageing in oak casks.

"A sweet fortified wine (123 g/l residual sugar) made exclusively from Malvasia Fina, with a minimum oxidative aging of 10 years in the cane system. Possibly the best-known grape of all Madeira wine styles, it is predominantly found in the São Jorge region in the north of the island. It displays dried and compote fruits enveloped by caramelized notes and sweet spices, all supported by vibrant acidity and a creamy texture, which bring balance to the overall wine and fluidity. Captivating in aromas and flavors, it has a smooth and lingering finish, with hints of saline, smoke, cocoa, figs, and dates."

"Tasted from a 37.5-cl sample bottle. Average age of 10 years from oak casks in the canteiro system. TA 6.5 g/l, VA 0.42 g/l, RS 125 g/l, pH 3.42. Certified BCorp. 
The smell of church pews and incense, the taste of Christmas cake – thick and dense and rich and dark – steeped in brandy. Raisins and cloves and black pepper. Not too sweet at all. Whip-crack tension in the smoky acidity."
