Description
Dry Tokaj, Bodrog Bormuhely Winery, Tokaji, Hungary, 2022
Grapes: A blend of 70% Furmint and 30% Hárslevelű, sourced from 3 estate vineyards (3.9ha across Nagyka, Lapis and Várhegy), volcanic & clay soils, unoaked
Producer Tasting Note:
Pale yellow colour. Deep complex nose with notes of apple, quince and pineapple. Fresh and crisp Tokaj acidity paired with a light fruitiness with a long finish and minerality. Unlike the sweet Tokaji wines, there is no botrytis (Noble Rot) on the grapes used in this wine.
Critic's Tasting Note:
"Smells stone dusty, wet cement. A fresh, easy, clementine-fruited modern wine speckled with white pepper. Lemons and sweet apples. Lovely Furmint-crunch acidity and Hárslevelű friendliness." Drink Now
16/20 points, Tamlyn Currin, JancisRobinson.com, April 2023
Also awarded 88/100 points (Silver Medal), Winelovers Wine Awards, 2024
Food Match: The wine works very well with sea-food dishes and salty character finger food and tapas.
