Description
Chateau Le Fage Monbazillac, Dordogne, France, 2022, Half Bottle
Grapes: A blend of 95% Sémillon, 5% Muscadelle, 48ha vineyard on clay/limestone soil, vines up to 100 years' old, manual harvest, unoaked
Producer Tasting Note:
Golden yellow colour, deep and brilliant. The nose of yellow fruits and spices is appetising. On the palate, the attack is lively with notes of fresh fruit and exotic fruit. The peach and apricot flavoured finish is enhanced by the fat of the botrytis (60% of the fruit affected), which gives it exceptional length, while keeping a beautiful liveliness. A complex and intense, luscious dessert wine.
Located near Bergerac, the GERAUD GERARDIN family have been owners of Chateau Le Fagé for for 8 generations with Benoit Gerardin currently running the property.
Food Match: As an aperitif with foie gras toast. At the table, it is surprising with poultry with mild spices, a sweet and savoury dish. Very harmonious with desserts with low sweetness fruits, and blue cheeses.
