Description

Château Paradis Provence Rosé, Coteaux d'Aix en Provence, France 2023

Grapes: A blend of 60% Syrah, 30% Grenache & 10% Vermentino, 50 year old vines grown on limestone soil, unoaked.

Producer Tasting Note:

Rich and intense on the nose, the Chateau Paradis rose offers perfumed aromas of flowers, pear and citrus. On the palate, the wine is well balanced with red fruit flavours, a fresh acidity and a long, fruity finish.

Critic's Tasting Note:

"Light to medium deep pink colour. Fresh plum, red berries, lemongrass and lime notes. A sleek palate with bright freshness, primary fruit flavours, and zesty finish."

88/100 points, Andreas Larsson, TASTED

Aix-en-Provence and its surrounding hills are home to many fantastic producers of Rosé wines. At Château Paradis nestling on the slopes to the north of this historic town they hand make a delicious Provençal rosé which is presented in smart contemporary packaging. It is made by the saignée method of 'bleeding' the fermenting juice from the skins to preserve delicacy and character whilst giving a lovely salmon pink colour. Elegant and dry with aromatic fruit aromas derived from a vibrant blend of mostly Syrah and Grenache this really delivers the 'local' Rose so adored and enjoyed by the English when on summer holidays in the South of France.

Chateau Paradis is situated just north of the town of Aix-en-Provence, this picturesque and historic town is the gateway to the South of France. The Domain was purchased and thoroughly restored in 2003 by Philippe and Juliette Deschamps and it sits among the rolling hills and rocky outcrops. A further change of ownership in 2011 by Xavier and Odile Thieblin has led to a restructuring of the vineyard and an acquisition of fifty hectares of additional vines, initially belonging to the Château de Fonscolombe, has enabled a combined production of 400,000 bottles across the entire range of wines at the chateau.

Recent vintages have really shone and they have been well rated by the Guide Hachette.

Food Match: Serve with cold meats, smoked salmon, bouillabaisse and grilled sardines.
