Chichibu Hanyu Ichiro's Malt And Grain "World Blended Whisky" Limited Edition, Blended Whisky, Japan, 70cl

NOSE: Rich aromas of tropical fruits, citrus notes and vanilla, complemented by subtle spices and floral accents. A hint of honey and toasted oak completes the bouquet. PALATE: Soft and balanced with a pleasant sweetness of caramel and honey, accompanied by fruity notes such as peach, apple and pineapple. Spicy elements of cinnamon, nutmeg and a subtle smoky note add depth. FINISH: Long and warming with a soft, sweet finish, accompanied by spicy and fruity notes, and a persistent oak note.

Building on the classic, white-label, Ichiro’s Malt and Grain, this gorgeous new bottle is a limited edition of the expression and one of the very first Chichibu releases in 2018. Made using malt whisky from Chichibu and grain whisky from abroad, the is defined on the label as a “World Blended Whisky”. A blend of five different whiskies from the U.S., Canada, Scotland, Ireland, and Japan. Aged in various barrel types.

A key malt is chosen to complement the blend of other malt & grain whiskies produced at Chichibu  The mellow acidity of heated plums, enveloped in a sweetness reminiscent of light cotton candy, is accompanied by the pleasant aroma of aged grain whiskies, and lingers in the mouth forever.

Critic's Tasting Note:

"Blended from imported whiskies along with Chichibu, the component whiskies in blue label are at least 10 years old, but often much older. The aromas tease with barley sugar, smoked venison, aromatic pan-roasted spices, peppercorn, and smoked paprika. Pepper and root ginger pummel sweet orange flavors of sherbet and Creamsicle. The citrus sweetness sees off the hefty spices, leaving the mouth awash with creamy orange peel notes and tropical fruits."
