Frazier Jones Wine Merchants is built on generations of experience in the drinks trade, rooted in two proud family histories. The story begins in 1848, when Sydney Herbert Jones, raised in Bristol during its days as a significant wine port, entered the wine trade. By 1886, he had acquired his own company in Banbury, laying the foundations for a business that supplied hotels, public houses and private clients across the Cotswolds, Oxfordshire and Stratford-upon-Avon. Wines and spirits were bottled on site, often into stone jars, and delivered by train and horse-drawn cart. Throughout the twentieth century, successive generations of the Jones family guided the company, navigating the hardships of war, establishing a reputation through retail and wholesale, and later expanding into mail-order and online wine sales.
Frazier’s Wine Merchants has a parallel story, one also shaped by family, passion and perseverance. Founded in the 1940s by Kenneth Frazier, the grandson of a brewer Samuel White and Son, the business developed into a respected regional wine merchant. John Frazier joined in 1963, and today it is led by his grandson William. Based in Birmingham, Frazier’s has become known nationally for its expertise and for holding one of the largest selections of Bordeaux wines in the country – a reflection of the family’s enduring love for the region. Across generations, the Frazier family has maintained a commitment to fine wine and to serving both retail and trade customers with care, professionalism and integrity.
In 2025, these two family firms came together to form Frazier Jones Wine Merchants, blending more than 175 years of shared history. Today, the company continues to champion terroir-driven wines and to support the on-trade with deep knowledge, an extensive portfolio and reliable service. With five generations of heritage and a bonded warehouse ensuring the provenance of every wine we supply, Frazier Jones stands ready to meet the evolving needs of wine drinkers, hotels, restaurants, pubs and independent retailers for the next century and beyond.
