Prosecco

Prosecco is an Italian sparkling white wine made from Glera grapes (Although this has now, due to the success of Prosecco, been expanded to include Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay). The recently intoduced Prosecco Rosé is also allowed to contain the red Pinot Nero (Pinot noir) grapes. Prosecco D.O.C. is produced in Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Veneto, and in the areas near Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, in the hills north of Treviso. The best D.O.C.G wines from Valdobiaddene are labelled as "Cartizze" and come only from vineyards planted on the hill of the same name. Light and refreshing, Prosecco is known as the main ingredient of the Bellini cocktail. It’s the perfect welcome drink.
