Producer Tasting Note:

This is a great value white Burgundy, embarrassing the wines of many of the grand and premier crus. This multi award winning wine exhibits the classic characteristics of St Veran with lovely peachy aromas on the nose, leading to a full, ripe and citrusy finish. Made with a light touch without oak, natural yeasts and three months' ageing on the lees for a creamy textural complexity, and a full malolactic fermentation to soften acidity and add roundness of body to the wine.

Estate: The Gonon family have been wine growers in Vergisson for 5 generations. The winery was developed in the 1950s under the tenure of Jean-Francois' grandfather. The oldest vines are now 60-70 years old: the Pouilly-Fuissé Vieilles Vignes. The 14ha domaine has also produced a Mâcon-Bussières and this Saint-Véran for around 25 years.

Appellation: The Saint Veran Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée was recognised in 1971. It federates several villages: north of the Roche de Solutré, Prissé and Davayé; to the south, Leynes, Chasselas, Chânes, part of Solutré-Pouilly and of course Saint-Véran. Only white wine is produced under this appellation, made exclusively from the Chardonnay grape variety.
