Grape: 100% Grenache, 1 acre Killick vineyard on sandy/alluvial soil, 40 year old bush vines, practising organic, low sulphites, handpicked, lightly oaked

Producer Tasting Note:

Gorgeous aromatic citrus notes are encircled by macerated strawberries and Allspice. Turkish dried apricots and red sherbet bombs skip around the periphery. The evocatively textural palate is all strawberries and raspberries enhanced by gentle spice with Kirsch seamlessly joining the affair. The 2024 vintage is exceptionally young, bright, and fruit-forward.

Technical: This wine is inspired by the light, semi-carbonic wines of Beaujolais which are very 'smashable'. Once picked, 10% of a 5 tonne stainless steel fermenter is filled with whole bunches and then topped with whole berries that have been lightly crushed and destemmed. The ferment is then inoculated with EC118 (Champagne yeast) and pumped over 4 times a day for one month. Post ferment the wine is bag pressed and sits in 7-year-old French oak barrels (300L) for 3 months until bottling. This wine is unfiltered and unfined preserving its natural texture and vibrancy.

"I’m Charlie O’Brien, the 'Noisemaker' behind Silent Noise. I grew up at Kangarilla Road Winery, surrounded by the chaos of vintage—tractors, trucks, and barrels—which sparked my love for winemaking. The name Silent Noise reflects this contrast: the buzz of the vineyard and the quiet anticipation of a bottled wine waiting to burst to life on the nose and palate. From topping barrels at age three to working with producers like Gemtree, Yangarra, and even Château Haut-Bailly in Bordeaux, my journey’s been hands-on and heartfelt. I believe great wine starts in the vineyard—with respect, care, and exceptional fruit."
