Producer Tasting Note:
A generous, open nose with ripe plum and cherry aromas and hints of warm spice. The palate is richly-flavoured with blackberry and juicy plum fruit characters, supple tannins and a rounded, savoury finish.
Winemaking: The Primitivo grapes were sourced from Vallone's Brindisi estate - from a 15ha vineyard with limestone-clay soil. The grapes are typically harvested at the end of August / start of September. Fermentation and maceration take place at controlled temperatures for 15 days, followed by spontaneous malolactic fermentation. Maturation takes place in steel and concrete tanks for around 3 months.
Estate: Founded in 1935, this well-established family winery is one of the original quality producers of the Salento peninsula. Of the family's 600 hectares of land spread over three estates, vineyards cover 170 hectares, whilst the rest is planted with a plethora of other agricultural crops, including some of the oldest olive groves in the country.
