Description

Ballade de la Pointe, Chateau la Pointe, Pomerol, Bordeaux, France, 2023

Grapes: A blend of 79% Merlot and 21% Cabernet Franc, 23ha vineyard on gravel & sandy/pebble soil over clay/gravel subsoil, 30 year old average vine age, sustainable farming, manual harvest, aged in French oak barrels (50% new)

Producer Tasting Note:

Ballade de La Pointe 2023 displays a brilliant ruby-hued colour. The nose reveals fresh and elegant aromas of ripe red fruits, cherry, and raspberry, accompanied by delicate floral notes. The palate seduces with its finesse and balance, with silky tannins and a beautiful acidity that brings freshness and structure. The finish is long, harmonious, and flavourful, true to the refined character of Ballade de La Pointe.

Ballade de la Pointe is the "second" label of Chateau La Pointe, where Hubert de Boüard de Laforest (of Chateau Angelus) is the consultant winemaker. The property is located on a terrace of the Isle river, below the main Pomerol plateau neighbouring Chateaux Nenin and Trotanoy.

Critic's Tasting Note:

"Intense, seductive aromas of blackberries, plums, and menthol; fruity and approachable on the palate, the delicate red fruit is accompanied by well-balanced tannins, and the acidity ensures drinkability;an elegant, fresh finish of sour cherries.Perfect for everyday enjoyment."  Drink 2026-2035

90/100 points, VINUM WINE MAGAZINE, January 2026

Also awarded 90/100 points, Adrian van Velsen - vvWine.ch, January 2026

Food Match: Serve between 15°C and 17°C to fully appreciate its balance and freshness. This vintage can be enjoyed now but will also age gracefully in the cellar for 5 to 8 years. It pairs perfectly with white meats, seasonal vegetable dishes, or refined cuisine requiring delicacy and elegance
