Grape: 100% Sangiovese Grosso sourced from 8ha of organic vineyards around Montalcino, wild yeast fermentation, aged for 2 years in oak. This wine has the potential to age for many decades gaining considerably in complex herbal notes, leather and tobacco.

The property, Col di Lamo, now owned by Giovanna Neri, is located at the northeast corner of the appellation, in an area that has performed nicely in some of the warmer vintages of the past years, thanks to the cooler microclimate found here. Farming is organic (not certified).

Colour: red colour of medium intensity, with purple reflections.

Perfume: harmonious, with a sophisticated note of prune and blackberry and a strong wood aroma.

Flavour: the taste results in a rich and balanced wine, distinguished by its aftertaste with a note of mixed berries and a delicate nuance of wood.

"The Col di Lamo 2018 Brunello di Montalcino is a full-bodied Sangiovese with thick layering and a velvety texture. There is abundant black cherry, ripe fruit, toasted almond and grilled herb. The effect is rich and even a bit monotone or heavy. There is a hint of bitterness connected to the tannins, and the wine covers the palate like a thick blanket." Drink 2024-2035

"Fascinating in its balsamic tone it shows notes of cherries, lemon peel, sandalwood, wet soil, star jasmine, eucalyptus and green tea leaves. Full body, perfectly ripe tannins and a classic finish that closes satisfyingly and decidedly fresh. Splendid straight away but better from 2024."
