Producer Tasting Note:

The Papa Figos Branco is lemon yellow in colour with golden hints. The nose has complex aromas with predominant notes of white stone and tropical fruit, with hints of citrus, flowers and a touch of minerality. On the palate, it has a refreshing acidity and notes of fresh pear. The finish is long and elegant.

Luís Sottomayor, winemaker, describes the 2023 vintage in the Douro as an “outstanding year” with wines showing “high concentration, good fruit and a lot of intensity”.

"Very well defined, classic Douro on the nose with soft yellow fruit, discreet white fruit and a lightness of minerals and citrus fruits. The mouth is all freshness, but has the body and crunchy texture that is missing. Density and joy come together in a white that calls for some garlic prawns, and a party. Very good."

"Papa Figos," a name inspired by the golden oriole, one of the rarest migratory birds in the Douro, embodies the uniqueness of this Portuguese white wine produced by Casa Ferreirinha. Since 1987, this winery has been part of the Sogrape group, which manages over 520 hectares of vineyards in the Douro Valley. It offers us a dry white wine that seduces with its elegance and its dynamic, modern character. Dry and invigorating, it reveals, from the first nose, a remarkable intensity with aromas of apples, pears, peaches, citrus fruits, and almonds, all punctuated by delicate floral and herbaceous touches. On the palate, it reiterates this aromatic complexity, offering volume and fullness, but it is its balance, supported by firm and harmoniously integrated acidity, that gives it a remarkable freshness.
