Grapes: A blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot. 40ha of vineyards with 30 year average vine age. Gravel over iron-rich sandstone soil. Hand harvested, destemmed bunches. Ageing 12 months in French oak barrels (25% new). 

The property is located in the St Laurent Médoc area and in the direct neighbourhood of the vineyards of Gruaud Larose, Lagrange, Belgrave, Camensac and Lanessan.

"The 2019 Caronne Ste Gemme bursts with aromas of blackberries and currants mingled with subtle hints of loamy soil and pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and impressively supple by the standards of this château two decades ago (which I remember well from my student days), this is a fine effort."

"Opening with espresso, smoke, cocoa and red pit fruits, the wine is medium-bodied, fresh, vibrant and crisp, with an elevated note of savory herbs, espresso, olives and spice on the palate and in the finish. Cigar wrapper and red fruits combine on nose and palate with a good blast of tobacco-infused red fruits and a hint of chocolate in the medium-bodied, fruity, savory finish."
