Grape: 100% Gamay Noir, 1.5ha vineyard on pink granite soil, 50 year old average vine age, hand picked, 48hl/ha yield, minimal oak influence

Producer Tasting Note:

Very beautiful, intense carmine red colour, subtle floral and fruity aromas of peonies, violets and cinnamon. Very ample with a beautiful fruity attack on the palate, it is a wine that will blossom after a few years in the cellars.

Estate: Established in 1850, the 34ha Manoir du Carra property is now run by Jean-Noël Sambardier and his sons.  

Winemaking: The wine includes a proportion of grapes which underwent semis carbonic maceration, where whole bunches ferment under carbonic gas, creating fantastic juicy fruit flavours and aroma. The final blend was then aged in old barrels on its lees for a period of 3-4 months before a light filtration and bottling. Grapes are sourced from a single vineyard called Montée de la Tonne. 

Food Match: Serve lightly chilled as an aperitif, or pair with light meat dishes & salads. Traditionally matched with coq-au-vin and game.
