Furmint

Furmint is a white grape variety associated with the famous sweet Tokaji wines from Hungary. Sweeter styles here are rich and luscious, with aromas of brown spices and sugar and complex flavours of apricot, marzipan and black-tea. Dry wines are also made from the variety in Hungary, Austria, Slovakia and Slovenia. The grape is highly susceptible to botrytis making it perfect for the production of the classic dessert wines which are capable of lasting for many decades. Pair this style with fruit based desserts or strong blue cheeses. For the dry wines, try with seafood, pasta, or salads.
