Description
Halfpenny Green Classic Cuvee Brut, Staffordshire, England, 2018
Grapes: A blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, bottle fermented
Producer Tasting Note:
A honeyed straw colour in the glass; rich and inviting with a refined and refreshing balance on the palate. Warm toasted notes with dessert pears and white peach rounding out the finish, a nod to spending over five years on lees. Drinking well now, with ageing potential for 10-12 years after vintage.
Critical Acclaim:
SILVER, Independent English Wine Awards, 2024
Established in 1983 by the Vickers family in South Staffordshire, Halfpenny Green now has 30 acres of vineyards which are looked after by founder, Martin Vickers. His son, Clive, is the winemaker of these award-winning wines. Sixteen different varieties are planted, most of which are hybrids suitable to the changeable English weather, but classic French grapes are planted for the production of sparkling wines.
Food Match: Goes brilliantly with seafood dishes and tapas, as an indulgent aside to a fish & chip supper, or simply as part of celebrating those special moments in life
