Description

"If you know you know" Vin Orange, LGI Wines, Vin de France, Languedoc, South of France, 2025

Grapes: An unoaked blend of Muscat, Grenache Blanc & Viognier

Producer Tasting Note:

Winemaker, Marilyn Lasserre, utilises aromatic white grape varieties to produce a wine offering a clear, pale orange colour. There are intense aromas of bitter oranges, dried flowers and slightly nutty hints. Fresh, vivid and well-balanced, with a nice acidity; the aromas carry through to the palate. The finish is long, intense and complex.

Winemaking:

Fruit for this "Orange" wine was machine picked at night to reduce the risk of oxidation. The grapes were directly put into concrete tanks as for the vinification of red wine. Pre-fermentation maceration on skins at a cool temperature for one week with daily pumping-over. The alcoholic fermentation was then launched at a temperature of 18°C. The grapes were then pressed and the press juice was blended with the free-run juice to end the fermentation. Ageing on fine lees until bottling.

LGI Wines was founded in Carcassonne, south of France, in 1999 by Alain Grignon. Thanks to its location in the heart of the Languedoc, LGI Wines works in one of the world's greatest wine-growing regions. It is a fabulous wine laboratory because of the amazing diversity of climates, terroirs and wine partners, offering a whole range of local and international grape varieties, from traditional to modern winemaking techniques. Over the years, the team has built a strong partnership with many local partners from Gascony to Languedoc.

Food Match: Plate of aged cheese (Roquefort, Epoisses), or chicken with morel sauce.
