Grape: 100% Semillon, alluvial sand & clay soils, ungrafted 50 year old dry-farmed vines, grapes from Latara & Field of Mars vineyards, hand picked, whole-bunch pressed, fermented with neutral yeast, bottled unfined, no malolactic, unoaked

This Semillon has classic fine aromatic signatures – ripe Meyer lemon with traces of perfumed lime, and pretty aromatic hints of white flower. On the palate, varietal lemon-zest flavours rule, showing stunning clarity and deliciously detailed elements – like kaffir lime in lemon juice – finishing with apple-crunch brightness, sweet Nashi pears and minerally length. As usual, this wine shows a lithe & silky texture with vibrant persistence, conferring wonderful pedigree and potential for development.

There is great drinking enjoyment now with opportunity for cellaring ahead. Beautiful harmony will begin to develop within 1-2 years, while 5 to 10 years will elevate this  youngster into a classic Hunter Semillon developing aromas of honey and lemon butter along with a rich, waxy texture... the hallmark of aged Hunter Semillon. If you can wait, don't drink it too young!
