Montepulciano

Montepulciano is a red grape variety grown mainly in the Abruzzo, Marche and Molise regions of central Italy. It has nothing to with the Tuscan wine, Vino Nobile de Montepulciano, which is made from Sangiovese. The Montepulciano grape produces wines with lots of colour, which are soft in tannin and low in acidity. Mostly grown in the Abruzzo region, it's also used in the Marche wines, Rosso Conero & Rosso Piceno. Outside of Italy, Montepulciano is becoming popular across South Australia.
