Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon 68%, Merlot 20%, Malbec 7%, Petit Verdot 5% in oak for 18 months (no new oak used)

Producer Tasting Notes:

A classic Bordeaux blend from one of Australia’s most regarded wine makers. This wine is intended to be served with the meat course of a meal and would benefit from an hours breathing and or decanting.

This wine is for people who enjoy a little more power and structure to their red wines.

The Moss Wood Amy’s is produced in a style specifically intended to have early appeal. The generous fruit characters and well-balanced tannin structure ensure it can be enjoyed as a youngster.  Of course, Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon has a tremendous reputation for cellaring and the 2022 Amy’s will certainly benefit from short term cellaring, of say 5 years, but customers are encouraged to appreciate and enjoy its attractive fruit flavours now and save space in their cellar for the Ribbon Vale or Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignons.

Colour: Deep, brick red; bright condition.

Nose: The nose is a lifted expression of all of the varieties in the blend. The Merlot contributes rich and jammy, blackcurrant notes accented with watermelon aromas from the Malbec. The Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the varietal mix with heaped dollops of blueberry and red currants. As the wine begins to relax in the glass, the textural; charry and chocolatey notes begin to materialise.

Palate: Carrying over from the nose the blueberries and red currants are immediately apparent. The firm tannin structure is accented nicely by the generosity contributed by the medium-full body of the mid-palate. The acidity has a gentle linearity which pairs nicely with the texture derived from the French oak. The vibrancy and liveliness of the fruit weight makes this wine very appealing and should be enjoyed while in its youth.
