A Real Reason to Buy En Primeur

A Real Reason to Buy En Primeur

Château Cissac 2025 is one of those releases that reminds us why En Primeur can still be useful.

Not because it is a trophy wine. Not because it needs hype. But because it is a very good vintage from a reliable Haut-Médoc estate, released at a sensible price, with the chance to secure formats that are rarely easy to buy later.

The 2025 is available to order now, with 6x75cl at £52, alongside halves, magnums and larger bottles. For drinkers and collectors alike, that is the real opportunity. Halves give flexibility. Magnums give ageing potential. Larger formats give theatre, longevity and something genuinely special for future occasions.

The wine itself makes the case. The 2025 blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 5% Malbec, with a modest 12.7% ABV. In a warm Bordeaux vintage, Cissac has retained freshness, balance and a proper Médoc spine.

The château describes rich Merlot, Cabernet refreshed by September rain, Petit Verdot spice and Malbec violet notes. Critics have responded well too, with the page showing a headline 92+ score.

This is the best Cissac vintage for a while, and it is exactly the kind of claret that makes sense En Primeur: characterful, cellar-worthy, food-friendly, fairly priced, and available in the formats you actually want before they disappear.
