Grape: 100% Pinot Noir, average vine age 45 years, hand harvested, 18 months' ageing in oak (20% new), minimal intervention production heading towards organic certification. No clarification or filtration before bottling.

Producer Tasting Note:

Characterised by a dense and consistent colour. The freshness and intensity of this wine's fruity flavour are what inspire most. Over time, the fruit fragrances move towards macerated cherry, stone fruits and liquorice, composed of slight balsamic scents suggestive of resin.

The entire Chauvenet domaine is only 9ha with many of the top premier cru sites producing superb wines. The village wine shows the quality of this domaine without such a hefty price tag!

"Iron in the soul with an earthy personality, this is an impressive village wine, even in the Nuits-Saint-Georges context. This has power, but is also fresh on the medium- to full-bodied palate and there’s no hint of heaviness, thanks to the fine tannins. Interesting interplay of roast-meat and bitter-chocolate character in the long finish. Drink or hold."

"A flagship cuvée for the estate since it mobilizes less than 0.4 ha of vines that are 70 years old. With this 2022 vintage, it is once again a highly recommendable ambassador of its appellation: discreet but elegant aromatics reminiscent of black fruits and tobacco, well-established and velvety tannins, greedy roundness, long finish, it can seduce today but also age serenely."  Drink 2026-2032

The Estate: Christine and Christophe Drag took over the family property in 1994 following the retirement of Jean Chauvenet, Christine's father and founder of the estate in 1969. They now operate a 9-hectare vineyard and are a safe bet in the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation.

Food Match: This wine pairs extremely well with roasts, game, meat dishes served in sauce and cheese platters. Serve at 14-15°C
