Grape: A blend of 95% Syrah & 4% Viognier, granite terraced hillsides facing south-east, 60 year old vines, manual harvest, fermentation in concrete vats, aged 24 months in French oak barrels (10% new), bottled unfined & unfiltered

Producer Tasting Note:

Dark garnet colour. Jammy nose with aromas of very ripe black fruits accompanied by smoky and mineral notes. Smoky and peppery palate with very tight tannins offering a long persistence in the mouth.

Estate: With the family attachment to the vine and wishing to embrace the potential of two unique vineyards, the Rhône Valley and Provence, Roger Ravoire founded his family structure in 1987 with the help of his wife Francine. It was in 2004 that their son Olivier joined the house in order to develop the activity and promote the excellence of the region's terroirs

Olivier Ravoire highlights the history of the Ravoire family (established in France since 1593) by signing this range in honour of the epic of Captain Ravoire – a valiant knight of the sixteenth century – in the Comtat Venaissin in 1593. To do this, a term from the lexicon of chivalry has been assigned to each name. Thus, our Côte-Rôtie is called "Halleberde", the name of the polearm with pointed and sharp iron, essential to the knight's armament. The result of a rigorous blend of grapes from the best plots of the appellation, this cuvée aims to offer a tasting rich in conviviality and discovery.
