Penfolds Bin 150 offers a modern, stylish take on Shiraz, grown in the iron-rich soils of Marananga. Meanwhile, Penfolds Bin 138 brings a softer, more approachable edge - a plush blend of 66% Shiraz, 22% Grenache and 10% Mataro that speaks to the Rhône Valley’s time-honoured blending tradition.

1 x Bin 138 Shiraz Grenache Mataro - Inspired by the classic Southern Rhone blends, Bin 138 is a warm, generous wine that brings together the spice of Shiraz, the red-fruited brightness of Grenache, and the earthy depth of Mataro (also known as Mourvedre). The fruit comes from Barossa vines - some planted as far back as 1895 - adding incredible character and history to the bottle.

Expect a swirl of dark cherries, plums, cracked pepper, and a savoury undercurrent of dried herbs. A touch of vanilla oak rounds it out. It’s full-bodied yet supple, with silky tannins and a lingering, balanced finish. A great pick for those who love bold reds with a bit of charm.

Critic's Tasting Note:

"Powerful, distinctive, spicy, fruit centric and toasty with aromas of wood smoke, aged meat and violets. Delicious on the palate with flavours of dark berries and spices, smoke and violets, baked blackberry pie, dark plums, more sweet meats and cloves. Medium+ weighted with firm moderate tannins, medium+ acidity and complexity. Well made, delicious and ready. Best drinking from today and through 2030."

1 x Bin 150 Marananga Shiraz - Born in Marananga, right near the heart of the Barossa floor, Bin 150 shows off the power and elegance that this sub-region does so well. This Shiraz is rich, structured and unmistakably Penfolds - concentrated dark fruit, hints of liquorice and spice, all wrapped in layers of fine-grained oak.

On the palate, it’s dense and brooding, but beautifully refined. Think blackberries, damson plums and Christmas cake, woven with a thread of cedar and firm tannins that promise great cellaring potential.

"The raspberry and vanilla-scented 2018 Bin 150 Marananga Shiraz is a beauty. Aged in French and American hogsheads, it artfully marries fruit and oak, then blends in nuances of licorice, dusty earth and hints of black olives and roasted meat. Full-bodied and creamy textured, it's ripe while remaining fresh and lively, coming to a long, silky close. At half the price of RWT, it's a relative bargain, but alas, it lacks availability... "
