Grapes: A blend of 85% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo & 5% Colorino, average 17 year old vines, certified organic (practising biodynamic)

Producer Tasting Note:

The wine is a deep garnet red colour, with aromas of dried oregano entwined with dark cherries and a smoky undertone. Ripe cherries on the palate are balanced with slightly astringent grainy tannins so typical of traditional Chianti, with a vibrant, fresh acidity on the finish.

Critic's Tasting Note:

"A family project by renowned winemaker and consultant Alberto Antonini. This certified organic red wine is made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes, fermented without the addition of exogenous yeasts and aged in oak. Another excellent vintage of this consistent wine, showcasing ripe red fruits accompanied by floral, earthy, dried herb, and sweet spice notes, which are confirmed on the palate, with its refreshing acidity and firm tannins setting the tone. With a gastronomic profile, it has a medium-long finish, ideal for pairing with sugo-style pasta. Alcohol content: 13.5%."

Poggiotondo is in western Tuscany and has been certified organic since 2014. Made from grapes grown on six individual parcels from the best vineyard sites, this wine has flavours of ripe cherries balanced by grainy, classic Chianti tannins. The winery is practicing Biodynamic winemaking but not currently certified as such.
