Description

Sancerre Rosé Domaine Sautereau, Loire, France, 2025

Grape: 100% Pinot Noir, organic, unoaked

Producer Tasting Note:

A pale salmon pink in colour, with intense aromas of strawberry, raspberry and a touch of citrus fruit on the nose. The palate of this gastronomic and vinous rosé from Pinot Noir is balanced between bright freshness and generous mouthfeel, ending on a long and salivating finish. The 2025 rosé blends fruit from vineyard plots on two different soil types: chalky ‘caillottes’ soils in the village of Bué and Kimmeridgian limestone in Crézancy.

Critic's Tasting Note:

"Lovely expression with dried red fruits, pomegranate with a cushion-like texture. Very good."

SILVER MEDAL, International Wine Challenge, 2026

Estate: The Sautereau family has produced wine in the village of Crézancy, 7km southwest of Sancerre, since 1683. Today, the winery is run by the family's tenth generation, David Sautereau, who makes modern, attractive wines that offer excellent value for money. His careful, orderly approach in his small, immaculate cellar is reflected in the purity of his wines.

The domaine's 22 hectares of vineyards are spread across the villages of Crézancy, Bué and Sancerre. They are planted on various soil types, including chalky ‘caillottes’ soils in the village of Bué, Kimmeridgian limestone in Crézancy and clay in Sancerre. This allows David to work with multiple blending options for his wines. The vineyards are farmed organically and will achieve full certification from the 2024 vintage.

Food Match: Serve at 10°C to 12°C. Perfect as an aperitif, but also with salads, tapas and grilled meats
