Description

Taylor's Late Bottled Vintage Port, 2020

Grapes: A blend of Touriga Nacional,Touriga Franca & Tinta Roriz

Full bodied and fruity. Powerful dark cherry and black fruit aromas. The floral and herbal notes that come through on the nose add lovely nuances to the bouquet. The palate shows great intense fruit flavours and fantastic depth and complexity. The wine is harmonious, well-crafted and authoritative.

Critics' Tasting Notes:

"Black almost to the narrow vibrant crimson rim. Intense and dark-fruited, pure, dark and clean cut – the fruit smells so fresh, dried but not raisined but it does smell highly concentrated. This is extremely rich so that the firm, chewy tannins are a perfect framework to moderate the sweetness and give what seems like a dry finish (though of course it is very sweet). Dark and charry rather than oaky. A serious LBV with a good life ahead. It is very young now yet surprisingly delicious in its youth."  Drink 2030-2040

16.5/20 points, Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.com, May 2025

"Perfumed and herbaceous, sappy nose, with a dense but refreshing palate of ripe red and black berried fruit."

89/100 points, Decanter World Wine Awards, 2025

Vintage Port is kept in wood for only twenty months or so before being transferred to the bottle where it will continue to age. Late Bottled Vintage, as the name suggests, is bottled later, remaining in wood between four and six years. During this relatively long period of wood ageing, an LBV matures and settles down -  it is ready to drink when bottled, does not need to be decanted and can be served by the glass for several weeks after the cork is drawn.

Food Match: Perfect to accompany chocolate desserts, and blue cheeses such as Stilton or Roquefort.
