Port Grape Blend

Most Portuguese red wines and all forms of Port usually combine a selection of native grape varietals in their makeup. The proportions will vary by region, often including a local speciality, but the "Holy Trinity" is built using Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Roriz (known as Tempranillo in Spain).  Additionally, Tinta Barroca and Tinto Cão are often found in the wines of the Douro, either replacing one of the main varieties, or adding to the complexity of the blend. Most of these grapes are rarely found outside of Portugal (except for Tinta Roriz) and they add to the unique flavours of the country's table wines which are finding greater popularity with British consumers alongside their long historical attraction to all things "Port".
