Grapes: A blend (sourced from Lüss, Römerstein and Sandriegel vineyards) of 50% Zweigelt plus Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot & Cabernet Franc, loamy sand & gravel soil, 40hl/ha yield, aged 12 months in small oak barrels,

The Salzl Josanna Grande Cuvée is an excellent and multi-award-winning red wine. It sets the scene for the character of the renowned Austrian red grape variety, Zweigelt.

Deep dark ruby red colour with an almost black core and violet reflections. Intense fruit nose, black cherry fruit, cassis, blueberries, chocolate and cocoa, herbal spice, fine orange zest, rum coconut, delicate roasted aromas. On the palate, wonderful berry fruit concentration, balanced texture, full-bodied, round and juicy, plum and herbal spice, smooth tannins, espresso and vanilla, juicy ripe wild cherry, blackcurrant, mineral, some nougat and noble wood spice in the finish, delicate extract-sweet hints. Drink 2024-2033.

This 2021 vintage is a prime example of the fine art of red wine cuvée in Burgenland. It comes from the renowned Salzl Seewinkelhof winery, which is located in Illmitz on the eastern shore of Lake Neusiedl. For generations, the traditional family winery has stood for powerful, terroir-influenced red wines with an international style and Austrian soul. The name "Josanna" - Josef & Anna - is a tribute to Christoph & Verena Salzl's children
