Grape: 100% Chardonnay, oaked, 60 year old vines, yield 54hl/ha, hand picked

The Bougros is a fruity, full-bodied wine, very aromatic when mature. It has great length and persistence. An explosion of flavour. It is best to wait 5-6 years before trying it, and it will keep for 15-20 years.

"Seductive, creamy citrus nose with just a touch of oak spice. Broad and spicy on the palate. Creamy but not quite as intense as the Vaulorent. Long and spreading across the palate. Chewy but great freshness on the finish." Drink 2025-2031

The Roy family have been vignerons in the village of Fontenay, just to the north of Chablis, for over 200 years. Today Claude Roy, together with his daughter Karine and nephew David, farm 20 hectares of vines on the right bank of the River Serein. They are one of the largest owners of the grands crus including the magnificent 3.5 hectare plot in Bougros. They have only recently begun to bottle a significant proportion of their harvest, having previously sold a majority in bulk to the negociants.

The perfect aperitif, accompanying gougères, goat’s cheese or comté. Also pair with scallops, duck breast or foie gras.
