Moschofilero is a pink-skinned, white grape variety native to the Greek Peloponnese region. The southern part of the peninsula, particularly in Mantinia, is renowned for this variety's wines, which have a similar, fresh, floral (rose) & grapey aromatic profile and exotic fruit notes to those made elsewhere from Muscat and Traminer grapes. The variety is often found in blended Greek white wines and, due to its acidity, is even used to make sparkling wines. Moschofilero wines pair well with Mediterranean seafood, tangy Greek cheeses, aromatic herb-infused dishes, and light Asian cuisine. Try some with traditional Greek dolmades (vine leaves stuffed with herbs & lemon rice), or psarosoupa (local fish soup).
