Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore, Giuseppe Lonardi, Veneto, Italy, 2022   

Grapes: 75% Corvina, 20% Rondinella, 5% Molinara, organic, 12 months ageing in small (225L) oak barrels

Colour: deep ruby red. Nose: delicate, with fruit and cherries. Taste: dry, delicately soft and slightly bitter.

Elegant dry red wine obtained with the traditional Ripasso technique, that is letting the young wine resulting from grapes pressed immediately after the harvest undergo a second fermentation on the Amarone skins.
This operation increases the alcohol content of the future wine, allowing to perceive all its organoleptic characteristics even when opening the bottle eight years after the harvest. It is made from the typical Valpolicella grapes Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara, cultivated in our vineyards located at 350 meters above sea level, on the hills of Marano. The vines are trained according to the traditional Veronese pergola and are between 10 and 30 years old.

Food Match: This wine will age for up to eight years from the vintage and pairs with traditional autumnal risotto with either radicchio, mushrooms, truffles, or tagliatelle with meat sauce, or grilled meat and game such as wild boar and hare.
